If you would like to know if your bitch is pregnant, I am offering scanning in my Fertility Clinic in Desborough, Northamptonshire.

Ultrasound scans are a non-invasive, safe and painless procedure to your furry baby.

The scan can be performed from 28-30 days from the last mating to confirm pregnancy. The reason for this is that this is when a reasonable amount of calcium development has formed within the gestation sacs and will therefore provide a good chance of obtaining confirmation of pregnancy. It is also because a canine female is unlikely to absorb puppies after this stage.

Please note that any indication in the number of puppies is an estimate. This is because gestation sacs often hide behind one another and some sacs can hide behind ribs, also sacs can easily be counted twice.
 

Our basic pregnancy scan is already a huge saving compared to a typical vet visit, where people often pay three times as much just to know “pregnant or not pregnant.” For £50, we confirm the pregnancy and count the puppies — a fair and affordable service.

…However, many clients, especially first-time breeders, would love to have not only the basic scan, but also in-depth advice on how to care for a pregnant bitch — including diet, exercise, worming, whelping prep, and understanding the stages of labour. Sharing this knowledge takes much more time, years of experience, and energy — and while we’re more than happy to provide it, it cannot be included in the basic scan fee.

 

That’s why we divided the scan into two options:

Perfect for experienced breeders who only need confirmation and numbers.

 

 OPTION B — Full Pregnancy & Whelping Guidance Package (£150)

 

Ideal for new or first-time breeders, or anyone wanting full support throughout the pregnancy.

Includes:

*Confirmation pregnancy 

*Puppy count

 *Pregnancy care advice (diet changes, supplements, safe exercise)

 *Worming & flea guidance to avoid passing parasites to pups

 *How to prepare your home and the whelping pen

 *Equipment checklist

 *Understanding the stages of labour

 *What to expect and when to call for help

 

 This does NOT include whelping assistance — that is a separate optional service!
