ABOUT AUSTRALIAN LABRADOODLE
Where Do Australian Labradoodles Come From?
The term ‘Labradoodle’ was first coined back in 1955. But, the name—and the dog itself—did not become popular until several decades later. The Australian Labradoodle breed dates back to the 1980's and was initiated by Wally Conron of Royal Guide Dogs, located in Victoria Australia. The intent was to create a breed that was allergy and asthma friendly with the temperament of a service dog. This journey was inspired by a vision-impaired woman in Hawaii who needed a Guide Dog which wouldn't aggravate her husband's allergies.
The aim of the Australian Labradoodle was to produce a new purebred with its own breed standard and with predictable traits than a first-generation Labrador Poodle cross.
Australian Labradoodle vs Labradoodle
There are significant differences between the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle. Labradoodles have Labrador parent and Poodle parent. Australian Labradoodles can be a blend of up to six different breeds: Labrador, Poodle, Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spanie ,Irish Spaniel Water Dog.
Being only a few generations away from a Labrador, it is no surprise that the vast majority of Early Generation Labradoodles DO SHED their coats and are therefore NOT suitable for allergy sufferers, despite what you may have been led to believe from other sources! Australian Labradoodles on the other hand, are many more generations away from the shedding Labrador; their coats have been developed over the last 35 years such that they DO NOT SHED and therefore have a very high compatibility rate with allergy and asthma sufferers.
Appearance: The Australian Labradoodle is available in three sizes, Standard (largest), Medium, and Miniature (smallest). The appearance is the same for all three sizes. The Labradoodle is a compact dog that is athletic yet graceful and always appears to be happy. The coat should be non-shedding and as allergy-friendly as possible.
Standard: (larges : Height 21 - 24 inches 53 - 60 cm, Weight 20 - 30kg )
Medium: (average: Height 17 - 20 inches 43 - 51 cm, Weight 14 to 19kg )
Miniature: (smallest: Height 14-16 inches 35cm - 41cm, Weight 7 - 12 kg)
Coat Type: Australian Labradoodles have three broad coat types, namely, wool, fleece and hair. Each looks and feels very different, so it is important to understand the differences between them. Australian Labradoodles are known for being non-shedding and whilst most of them are due to their wool and fleece coats, the hair-coated dogs do shed to varying degrees, just like Early Generation.
Wool coat The wool coat is coarse in texture and very curly. It is sprung and therefore sits up off the dogs back giving the illusion the dog is bigger. This coat is very like that of the Poodle. It is non-shedding and is generally very compatible with allergy and asthma sufferers.
Curly fleece coat The curly fleece coat is soft in texture with loose curls. It is not sprung, so it tends to straighten out a little when it grows longer. This coat type is what most people think of as the typical Australian Labradoodle look. It is non-shedding and is generally very compatible with allergy and asthma sufferers.
Loose/wavy fleece coat The loose or wavy fleece coat is very soft in texture with a slight wave to it. It blows in the wind or when the dog runs! It is non-shedding and is generally very compatible with allergy and asthma sufferers.
Hair coat The hair is quite coarse in texture and feels like typical dog hair. It is usually short and flat and will not ever grow particularly long. It does shed to varying degrees and therefore is generally not compatible with allergy and asthma sufferers.
Temperament: Your adult Australian Labradoodle dog will be loyal, energetic, friendly and fun. Whilst there are some Early Generation Labradoodles with fantastic temperaments, they do tend toward the lively and potentially hyperactive side, particularly when compared to the calmer, better-balanced Australian Labradoodles. In fact, Australian Labradoodles are particularly intuitive, very intelligent, easily trained and are excellent with young children making them an ideal family member. However, they are still full of fun when playing outdoors and can be incredibly comical.
ETHICAL BREEDING!!!!!
What are ethical breeding practices, and why are they important?
A Reputable Australian Labradoodle breeders prioritize the health and temperament of their dogs, conduct necessary health screenings, and provide a nurturing environment for the puppies. This active approach ensures that you bring home a healthy and happy pup while discouraging unethical breeding practices.
Ethical breeding practices involve ensuring the health and well-being of the dogs, as well as the welfare of the puppies. It includes:
• Genetic testing: Before breeding a dog, it is essential to test for any hereditary diseases that could be passed on to the puppies. Testing for these diseases can prevent them from being passed on to future generations.
• Socialization: Puppies exposed to a variety of people, animals, and environments at a young age are more likely to be well-adjusted and socialized dogs. This is why we ensure that our puppies are exposed to different environments and stimuli from an early age.
Care and nutrition: Being one of the best labradoodle breeders, we believe that every dog deserves to be well-cared for, which is why we provide our dogs with high-quality food, regular exercise, and veterinary care.
• Responsible breeding: We are committed to responsible breeding practices, meaning we only breed our dogs when they are healthy and in the best possible condition.
At Fluffy Kingdom ( Doodles of Fluffy Kingdom) committed to ethical breeding practices. We believe that every dog deserves a loving home and a happy life, and we are committed to ensuring that our puppies are healthy and well-socialized. We work closely with our veterinarian to ensure that our dogs are in the best possible condition, and we only breed dogs that have passed their health tests.
